Abstract

This paper aims to carry out a theoretical discussion by revisiting and reflecting on different conceptions for the provision of the school principals and how this process occurs or should occur in the school environment. Bibliographic and documentary research was developed with a qualitative approach to achieve this objective.   Taking the analysis of the results into account, it was possible to verify that the filling of the school principal position is subject to consultation with the school community. This collective's framework is related to democratic and participatory processes in school management, supporting and serving the selection of public-school principals, focused on improving the education quality, making the collective work of the school team and the school community more productive and democratic.
