This article is the result of master's research, carried out in the Professional Master's Postgraduate Program in Letters (ProfLetras), at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) and addresses an experience of reading and literary writing in Youth and Adult Education, the based on memoir narratives by the Minas Gerais writer Bartolomeu Campos de Queirós. The application took place in a 9th year (8th grade) class of Elementary School, night shift, at a public school on the outskirts of the city of Goiânia/GO and its objective was to encourage contact with the literary text, the production of senses and the rescue of emotions. For this purpose, the works Indez (2004), Por parte de pai (1995), My grandfather's glass eye (2021) and Vermelho Amargo (2017), by the aforementioned author, were worked on, providing opportunities for subjective interactions in sharing circles and the recording impressions in reading diaries, as well as responsive literary writing. The theoretical contributions of literary literacy, subjective reading, reading circle and creative writing were used and favored the use of tools aimed at interaction, dialogue, reflections and appropriation of narratives. The research is guided by the methodology of Thiollent's Action Research (2011) and resulted in an initial process of literary literacy among the marginalized public of EJA, with the formation of a community of readers.
