The influence of neoliberalism on public education: valorization of human capital

This article investigates the impact of neoliberalism on public education in Brazil, with a focus on the valuation of human capital. It discusses how neoliberal policies shape education, promoting a view where individual training is intrinsically linked to market logic. The research employs a qualitative approach and a literature review, analyzing a variety of sources to examine this dynamic, such as Laval (2004), Libanêo (2019), Oliveira & Paoli (1999), and Marrach (2006), among others. The conclusion is that, although the neoliberal discourse emphasizes the pursuit of educational quality, its practices tend to prioritize economic growth and market adaptation, thereby perpetuating social inequalities and maintaining a precarious workforce
