Abstract

In recent years, the increase in exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation has intensified health issues such as skin cancer and premature aging. Despite the importance of sunscreens in preventing these damages, many Brazilians still do not use them regularly due to a lack of awareness about their benefits and proper application, as well as limited understanding of the Sun Protection Factor (SPF). This study aims to highlight the importance of proper sunscreen use through a qualitative approach, combining a literature review with a survey within the school community and practical experiments that demonstrated the protection provided by the tested products. The objective is to raise awareness about sun protection and encourage correct habits, such as choosing the appropriate SPF and reapplying the product, to reduce the risks associated with UV radiation.
